The Whole Health Project: 35 Hour Online Trauma Aware Meditation Teacher Training

Course program

The 35-Hour Online Trauma Aware Meditation Teacher Training by The Whole Health Project prepares students to teach meditation with confidence and a trauma-aware foundation. It combines 25 hours of meditation teacher training with 10 hours of trauma-aware facilitation, drawing on yoga tradition, non-duality, mantra, and modern nervous-system-informed practice.

The training is for both new and experienced meditators, including people who have never meditated before. It is well suited for yoga teachers, coaches, and wellness practitioners who want to bring meditation into their offerings, as well as students who want to establish their own teaching practice from scratch. No prior teaching credential is required.

The meditation teacher training component spans seven core modules. You will study how meditation affects the brain and nervous system, how to teach meditation to beginners, meditation in the yoga tradition, non-duality teachings, manifestation and visualization, teaching ethics, and the exam and certification process. The techniques covered include focus and concentration practice, relaxation visualization, breath awareness, breath visualization, breathwork to support meditation, body awareness, walking meditation, mantra meditation, being aware of being aware, and manifestation.

The trauma-aware facilitation component adds a further five sections on what trauma is and how to identify it, the effects of stress and trauma on the nervous system, trauma-aware facilitation practices, creating psychologically safe spaces, and emotional first aid. A bonus business module covers customizable marketing materials for launching a meditation teaching practice.

The program is co-led by Lucy Foster-Perkins and Rachel Fearnley, the founders of The Whole Health Project. Lucy has studied non-duality teachings under Mooji and Rupert Spira and works with mantra, hypnotherapy, and manifestation. Rachel teaches from a long-standing daily practice and specializes in mantra, visualization, loving kindness, and movement meditation.

The format is fully self-paced and online. Pre-recorded bite-size lectures and guided meditation audios can be studied on your own schedule, with a minimum completion time of three weeks and a maximum of six months. Students have lifetime access to all materials and ongoing access to a private Facebook support community, monthly live group Q&A sessions with the instructors, and a library of past Q&A recordings. Assessment includes daily 20-minute meditation practice, reflective journaling, logged teaching practice, two submitted video demonstrations, and an online quiz.

Lucy and Rachel are phenomenal teachers. I was blown away by the amount of information and skills taught in this course. The way they laid out the information was very manageable. As someone who has taken several courses in the past, the organization and structure of the course were top-notch. I feel well-prepared to be a Breath Coach and HIGHLY recommend Lucy and Rachel's course to anyone interested!

Doing this breath coach course was a phenomenal experience. Having the flexibility of a self-paced course was crucial for my schedule. Rachel & Lucy created the greatest program, making it feel like you were learning from them live directly, even though it was mainly pre-recorded videos. The flow of the course made everything simple and easy to learn, starting with introducing a breath, explaining it, demonstrating it, practicing it, and then explaining how to teach it.
