Yoga Farm Ithaca: Ayurveda 101

Course program

Ayurveda 101 by Yoga Farm Ithaca is a short online introduction to Ayurveda, the sister science to yoga. The course presents a householder’s view of this traditional system of self-care, helping students understand their personal constitution and the everyday practices that support balance and well-being.

This course is open to anyone curious about Ayurveda — no prior experience is required. It suits students who want to bring more self-awareness to their food choices, daily routines, and yoga practice, as well as yoga teachers who want a grounded introduction to Ayurvedic concepts and can apply the 10 qualifying Yoga Alliance CEU hours to their existing credential.

The curriculum introduces the Five Elements and the Three Doshas, then walks students through identifying their personal Dosha and recognizing it in its balanced state. From there, the course shows how to apply Ayurvedic principles to a yoga practice through Kriya Yoga, breathing practices, and meditation — including three Kundalini yoga practice sessions woven into the lessons.

Students also explore how food choices and the changing rhythms of day and seasons influence the mind and body. The aim is practical self-knowledge: leaving the course with clear techniques for tending to your unique constitution on and off the mat. Material is delivered across twelve short lessons drawn from the householder’s tradition, rather than a clinical or practitioner-level study of Ayurveda.

The course is fully self-paced. After enrolling, students receive an email from the school with access details and can move through the twelve lessons on their own schedule. Total content time is around three hours, including the three Kundalini yoga practice sessions. There are no live calls, no cohort schedule, and no fixed end date.

Yoga Farm Ithaca is one of those rare places that feels deeply nourishing the moment you arrive and somehow continues to work on you long after you leave. In person, the land itself feels held and intentional. There is a sense of care woven into everything from the physical space to the pacing of the days to the people who gather there. The classes and offerings are thoughtful, embodied, and accessible without ever feeling watered down. Whether you are brand new to a practice or deeply experienced, you feel welcomed exactly as you are.
