This was the BEST thing I’ve done for myself in so long! I never imagined I could teach yoga-I started the course to just learn more and have a community to practice with-but I have already started teaching and I can’t imagine not!
The Children’s Yoga Teacher Training by YogaRenew is a self-paced online certification that prepares students to teach yoga to kids. The program blends child development science, age-appropriate practice, and practical business skills, all delivered through 12 learning modules using YogaRenew’s BREATH – PLAY – PRACTICE teaching formula.
There are no prerequisites. The course is designed for yoga teachers looking to expand their offerings, educators, care providers, and parents who work with children. It welcomes complete beginners as well as established yoga instructors who want to add a children’s yoga specialization to their practice. Anyone interested in becoming a yoga instructor for kids can enroll directly.
The curriculum opens with child development — language and communication, cognition, executive function, physical movement, and social-emotional learning — then explores how children’s yoga differs from adult yoga and the research behind its physical, mental, and cognitive benefits. Module 3 covers meditation, breathing, and mindfulness for kids, including body scans, prop work, and accessible breathwork cues.
Modules 4 through 9 are a deep dive into more than 50 children’s yoga poses, organized by warm-up, standing, balances, heart openers, seated, and chair poses, with creative cueing for engagement. Module 10 introduces yoga games for kids, Module 11 is the BREATH – PLAY – PRACTICE teaching methodology covering classroom management and sequencing, and Module 12 walks through starting a kids yoga business — LLC setup, insurance, pricing, contracts, invoicing, and waivers.
The course is led by Trevor Vaughan and Julie Pasqual. Trevor is a former Wall Street executive who left finance to teach yoga and built a six-figure kids yoga business. Julie is an E-RYT 500HR teacher and yoga philosophy specialist who also works as a clown in children’s hospitals, bringing joy to kids who need it most.
The course is fully self-paced and online. Enrollment grants instant access to all course materials so students can complete the program on their own schedule from home. Students work through 12 learning modules at their own pace, with required coursework and assignments completed to earn the certificate of completion.
Graduates receive a certificate of completion from YogaRenew once they finish the required coursework and assignments. The training also qualifies for Continuing Education Credits (CECs) with Yoga Alliance, which existing Registered Yoga Teachers can apply toward their ongoing CE requirements.
