YogaRenew: Sound Healing

Course program

Sound Healing by YogaRenew is a self-paced online course that introduces students to sound as a healing modality. Designed for both aspiring practitioners and curious beginners, it explores the history, science, and practice of sound healing through guided lessons, immersive sound bath sessions, and self-reflection exercises.

This course is open to anyone interested in sound healing, with no prior experience required. It suits people looking to begin offering sound baths to clients, yoga teachers seeking continuing education hours, and individuals who simply want to explore sound as part of their personal practice. No instruments are needed to begin — students can start with their own voice.

The curriculum covers sound healing in three ways: analytically, intuitively, and emotionally. Lessons explore the history of sound healing across cultures, its physiological impacts on the body and brain, the ethics of working with clients, and the science behind specific frequencies.

Students work with the core instruments of sound healing — tuning forks, crystal bowls, drums, voice, and intentional silence — through immersive practices and mini sound baths that highlight the nuances of each instrument. Six full sound bath sessions are included so students can both experience the practice and learn techniques from them.

The course also addresses program development, including how to structure a sound bath, prepare a space, and help participants get the most out of a session. Journaling and self-reflection exercises support students in developing their own voice and sense of themselves as a healer.

The course is led by Shirley, a sound healer whose practice began through a personal exploration of meditation and crystal bowls. Her teaching focuses on the inclusive, cross-cultural roots of sound healing and how it can be used to support both self-healing and client work.

The course is delivered entirely self-paced and online through YogaRenew’s Ether platform, with unlimited access across all devices. Access is included with an Ether subscription, which also unlocks YogaRenew’s wider library of classes, series, and workshops. There is no fixed schedule or required live attendance.
