YogaRenew: Yin Yoga Certification

Course program

The Yin Yoga Certification by YogaRenew is a self-paced online training that prepares students to teach Yin Yoga — the slow, meditative, long-hold style of practice rooted at the intersection of ancient Eastern traditions. Led by instructor Kate Lombardo, the program explores Yin’s history, philosophy, anatomy, and teaching methodology.

No prior teaching experience is required. The training is designed for yoga teachers adding Yin to their teaching repertoire, yoga practitioners deepening their personal Yin practice, and wellness professionals who want to bring slow, meditative movement into their work.

The curriculum covers the origins and philosophy of Yin Yoga, the anatomy of connective tissue, joints, and fascia, and the subtle-body framework of meridians, chakras, and energy flow. Students study Yin poses in depth, including modifications for different bodies, and learn to sequence intelligent, thematic practices using energetic balancing principles.

Alongside the theory, the training develops practical teaching skills: guiding students safely through meditation and long holds, cueing stillness, pacing classes, and designing full sessions with clear transitions. Students also explore the benefits of Yin as a counterbalance to fast-paced modern life and as a tool for slowing down and enriching a broader yoga practice.

The program includes video teachings, guided meditations, workbook and resource materials, and access to Yin classes that can be returned to for ongoing personal practice.

The program is led by Kate Lombardo, co-director of YogaRenew and one of the school’s most widely recognized teachers. Kate is an E-RYT 500 certified teacher, a certified Yin Yoga teacher, and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education (YACEP) Instructor, and she holds a certificate in Positive Psychology. She draws on her background as an educator and more than a decade of teaching and training experience. YogaRenew has certified over 5,000 Yin Yoga graduates worldwide through this program.

The format is fully self-paced online, with lifetime access to all materials. Students move through the training on their own schedule, with no required live sessions. The program includes a downloadable, printable teacher’s manual covering anatomy, sequencing templates, cueing guides, and meditation scripts, alongside the video teachings and guided practices. A 30-day full refund guarantee is offered at enrollment.
