Fiji McAlpine discovered yoga at 21 while recovering from a debilitating back injury, and the practice became both a remedy for physical pain and a path through her recovery from anorexia. She began teaching in 2002 almost by accident, when an instructor was a no-show, and the experience sparked a passion that led to becoming director of development at DoYogaWithMe.
Fiji holds E-RYT 500 certification with Yoga Alliance and a Master of Education. She was mentored by yoga teacher trainer Mary Prefontaine and now leads international retreats alongside her teaching work. On the DoYogaWithMe 200-hour teacher training, she leads the chakras curriculum, drawing on what she describes as yoga’s role as a “dress rehearsal for life” — a practice that helps students become better versions of themselves, on and off the mat.
