Jack Kornfield is one of the key teachers who introduced Buddhist mindfulness practices to the West. After training as a Buddhist monk in Thailand, Burma, and India, he returned to the United States and began teaching meditation in 1974. He went on to co-found two of the country’s most influential meditation centers: the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts, and Spirit Rock Center in Woodacre, California.
He holds a PhD in clinical psychology and has written more than fifteen books, including The Wise Heart, A Path with Heart, and After the Ecstasy, the Laundry. He co-leads the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program with Tara Brach, and is described as a husband, grandfather, and activist.
