Liz Heffernan is the founder and director of Soma Yoga Institute and a lead teacher across the school’s 200-hour and 300-hour therapeutic yoga teacher trainings. She has more than 25 years of teaching experience and over 20 years of personal practice, with training spanning Hatha, Kripalu, Integrative Yoga Therapy, Ashtanga, and Anusara traditions. Liz holds E-RYT 500 certification with Yoga Alliance and is a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She also serves as mentor faculty for the Kripalu School of Integrative Yoga Therapy. Her teaching focuses on therapeutic alignment, biomechanically informed movement, and adapting yoga for different bodies, ages, and conditions, with an emphasis on keeping students safe for a lifetime of practice.
